About This Place

Located in the heart of Denver’s vibrant 19th Avenue corridor, D Bar Denver is a dynamic American eatery that masterfully blends the charm of a cozy cafe with the excitement of a bustling bar and the indulgence of a dedicated dessert destination. This multifaceted spot is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic, multi-sensory dining experience where comfort food meets artisanal craftsmanship.

At D Bar Denver, the culinary focus spans a broad spectrum—from enticing savory dishes to show-stopping desserts that captivate your sweet tooth. Their Happy Hour, running from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, is a popular draw; customers rave about the perfectly crisp Parmesan Fries and satisfyingly sweet Sweet Potato Fries, alongside fresh, vibrant salads like the fan-favorite Simple Salad topped with salmon. Each bite bursts with freshness balanced by hearty flavors, a true testament to their quality ingredient selection and culinary precision.

But it’s the dessert bar that truly sets D Bar apart, turning a meal into a celebration. Imagine savoring a luscious three-layer “Grandma’s” chocolate cake, lovingly layered with silky Madagascar chocolate frosting, paired elegantly with your choice of a creamy vanilla, rich chocolate, or tangy raspberry milkshake. Each forkful is decadence personified: deep chocolate notes mingling with the smoothness of the frosting, creating an irresistible harmony that dance on your palate. For a more playful treat, the funfetti cake—dotted with colorful sprinkles and wrapped in velvety American buttercream—delivers a whimsical, nostalgic delight, making it just as memorable as it is delicious. Beyond cakes, the pastry menu dazzles with delights like the flaky, bittersweet Chocolate Croissant, freshly baked cookies in rotating flavors, and innovative breakfast pastries featuring savory options such as the ham & cheese croissant oozing with melted Gruyère and aged cheddar.

The ambiance here strikes a perfect balance between lively and relaxed. With spacious seating both indoors and outdoors, D Bar Denver effortlessly accommodates everything from a casual night out with friends to a cheerful family dinner. Reviewers have noted the energetic yet welcoming atmosphere, where watching bakers craft pastries through the open kitchen adds an element of theatrical delight to your visit. Friendly, attentive service complements the vibe, ensuring you feel valued and well cared-for.

What stands out most from guests is the authentic, homey vibe combined with professional culinary artistry. Regulars like Shingo S. Ishida appreciate the no-wait seating on busy nights and the family-friendly environment, while Jazmine Ragland sheepishly confesses that the desserts are the real star—rich, decadent, and absolutely worth planning your visit around. The glowing praise for the quality of food and drink, including the house red wine cherished by happy hour visitors like Jenn Pfankuch, further solidifies D Bar’s reputation as a top-tier neighborhood haunt.

Whether you’re after a comforting savory meal, a lively spot for drinks, or a sweet retreat filled with gourmet pastries and desserts, D Bar Denver elevates every occasion. The intoxicating aroma of freshly baked goods, the impeccable balance of savory and sweet flavors, and the warmth of the staff come together to create not just a meal but a memorable experience that will beckon you back again and again.

Came to this popular spot on 19th for an early dinner on a Friday as a party of two and we were seated without any wait. Happy Hour menu was available from 1500-1800, so we ordered a couple of items (Parmesan Fries, Sweet Potato Fries) and a Simple Salad topped off with salmon. Friendly service and nice, casual atmosphere that's good for a night out or a meal with the family & kids. Dessert bar area has about 8-10 seats where you can watch the dessert chefs create the wonderful dessert dishes - we ordered the Molten Lava cake, which actually looked like a swan (?) that we regretted taking apart to eat. Plenty of tables and seating inside and outside on the sidewalk patio. Parking is on the street (mostly 2-hour parking) and free, but you'll be competing for spots with nearby condo/apartment residents. Removing one star from an otherwise 5-star review because - be advised - this restaurant mandates a 22% surcharge regardless of the number in your party, and I was charged twice for a $4.00 cup of Americano coffee (one ordered, one requested refill) for a total of $8.00 (!) and the reason given was that "the coffee had to be made again."

This place has the best dessert!! The hot chocolate is really rich and delicious. The food is average but dessert is a must here! They have a lot of seating inside and outside. I do recommend making a reservation it gets busy.

The name of this restaurant is a bit cheeky, but it's all in good food and fun! We went here for happy hour! The House red wine is delicious. I really loved the simple salad, so much to the point that I bought all the ingredients at the store and similar lemon vinaigrette! The crispy Brussels sprouts tasted almost as good the one from Humboldt Kitchen + Bar, which has closed. We also loved the fries, and tacos! Can't wait to go back!

Amazing experience. Server was polite and attentive. Food was delicious. Happy hour specials allowed us to try more than we normally would have gotten. Desserts are absolutely decadent. Even found street side parking a block away. Definitely at the top of our Denver restaurant go to list.

D Bar was highly recommended by my PT. He said it's a MUST visit place when I'm in Denver. Thank you PT. I was so please with the food, service, and the atmosphere. There was life in the restaurant. You can even see the baker making the pastries and desserts. I didn't have a reservation but they made accommodation for us (husband and son). I ordered a cappuccino, grilled chicken arugula, wild cherries with candied almond salad. Omg...it was so delicious, the grilled chicken breast was tender and juicy. I finished my plate. My son got the sliders, he said it was the BEST sliders he ever had, believe me he is a food connoisseur. My husband got the breakfast burrito (this thing was huge), it was tasty!!! Their almond croissant and vanilla creme brule are to die for. Our taste buds were so happy after our meal. Definitely will return next time we are in Denver.

We came in for the first time tonight with a big appetite for dessert and boy were we satisfied! Our server Caleb was so nice and down to earth and made sure to give us great recommendations. We sat at the dessert bar which is probably the best seat in the place because you get to see all the desserts being made to order right in front of you! Every single dessert we had was amazing. We had the Pre Fixe which was 3 courses of dessert and shared a mix of the Cake and Shake, Ch Ch Churros, Baked Alaska, and All You Knead are Pretzels. 10/10 would recommend if you have a sweet tooth and love a high quality dining experience with a really cool setting!

We really enjoyed D Bar. The happy hour is awesome. The Slider and Bacon Mac & Cheese was phenomenal. Some of the best Mac and cheese I’ve had maybe ever. For a house red wine priced at only $5, it is dang good. -The 22% service charge. I can’t help how I feel about it. I can’t stand these 22% services charges being added at more and more restaurants. The service and food were very good so it wasn’t too big a deal for me. Will be back in again for happy hour and maybe desert next time.

Had a great brunch experience. Should have ordered dessert first it was so good but we barely had room! The American dream was amazing and the berry shortcake was a close second. Food was great too, the tomato soup is so so good. Great cocktails, great service, would totally recommend!
